Guidelines for Designing Meritage Labels

General guidelines for designing Meritage labels are based on members' experience with TTB label approval division:

• Meritage is not considered by TTB to be a class or type, as this would require amending the Federal Alcohol Act and related regulations.
• Wine labels showing the word "Meritage" will be approved by TTB provided "Meritage" is inserted in the "proprietary or fantasy name" box on the label application (even if your wine has another proprietary or fantasy name as well).
